Account Manager

Sales Engineer

TKS Industrial Company -- Troy, MI office

Our Sales Engineers are in constant contact with our internal and external customers to identify opportunities, understand customers' technical specifications, define project scope, coordinate engineering efforts, and assist in cost estimation to present a solution that meets the customer’s needs. Sales Engineers write up the formal proposal, present it to the customer, negotiate prices, receive POs and evaluate contract documents. He/she will continue to support the customer through project completion and beyond with warranty management.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Attend pre-bid meetings or receive customer request for bid
  • Review and summarize key points for project scope
  • Report key points for bid to Technical Division
  • Assist in estimating or create estimate as required
  • Write proposal for estimate
  • Present proposal to customer
  • Attend clarification meeting
  • Cost /sell status of proposals/projects

Key Qualifications:

  • 5-8 years’ experience with construction, industrial equipment, engineering, and/or technical projects required. Industrial equipment and/or construction experience preferred. Paint finishing experience a plus. Automotive experience a plus.
  • Engineering degree (BSME/BSEE)
  • Ability to read and understand engineering drawings as well as customer specifications.
  • Experience preparing and presenting technical proposals for complex projects with clear communication, including use of PowerPoint.
  • High level of proficiency with MS office applications including Excel, Outlook, Word, Project, and PowerPoint.
  • Commitment to Continuous Improvement through willingness to accept new responsibilities and keep knowledge and skills current through both training and application of past experience.
  • Willingness to travel approximately 20%, mostly domestic with occasional international travel. Primarily same-day and 1-overnight trips.

Electrical Engineer

Electrical & Controls Engineering

TKS Industrial Company -- Troy, MI office

Our Electrical Controls Engineers design and implement automated control systems in the paint finishing industry. This role is within the engineering team responsible for concept to completion design of the facilities and process equipment, developing the control architecture, selecting the major components and preparing the electrical drawings. This role coordinates with the Purchasing team for outsourced fabrication and installation, checking for quality and compliance with specifications and schedule and supporting the construction team throughout installation. This is a key role for the final commissioning and launching the plant.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Control panel design (hardware design)
  • Specification and sizing of all required components
  • Selection and sizing of enclosures (Inc. heat load calculations)
  • Mark ups to existing drawing sets for CAD detailing
  • Familiarity with NEC, NFPA 79, NFPA70E and any applicable electrical design standards
  • Software design/development
  • Design, development and testing of PLC based logic
  • Design, development, testing of HMI based logic
  • Bid Specification
  • Develop bid specification for field installation, panel build, and equipment purchases.
  • Startup and Commissioning
  • On site testing and validation of new and retrofitted controls systems
  • Debug of electrical wiring issues
  • System check out of all I/O, alarms/faults and modes of operations
  • Development of technical documentation (i.e. O&M manuals, network diagrams, etc.)
  • Operator training
  • Enforce safe work practices as the highest priority & adheres to objectives for ergonomics, health/safety & housekeeping
  • Develop and monitor project schedules and budgets

Key Qualifications:

  • Electrical Engineering Degree (BS/BSE)
  • Minimum 2-3 years of experience with PLC & HMI programming, commissioning, and troubleshooting across major platforms. (i.e. Rockwell/AB, Omron, Toyopuc, Mitsubishi)
  • High level of analytical ability where problems are unusual and difficult.
  • High level of interpersonal skills to work effectively with others.
  • Self-motivated individual with a high level of resourcefulness.
  • Experience using, understanding, and documenting schematics and design notes.
  • Experience with programming and engineering of Ovens, Air Supply Houses, Pretreatment and E-Coat Systems preferred.
  • Experience setting up and configuring VFDs preferred.
  • Willingness to travel extensively.

Project Engineer

Entry-level Mechanical Engineer

TKS Industrial Company -- Troy, MI office

TKS Industrial Company is looking for entry-level Mechanical Engineers to join our team. We are a world class designer and builder of Paint Finishing Systems and for the Automotive and related industries.

This position offers the successful candidate the opportunity to apply a broad range of engineering concepts and be part of a cross functional team. The successful individual will have strong organizational skills, including a demonstrated ability to prioritize and handle multiple projects simultaneously.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Mechanical engineering of automotive paint finishing systems
  • Review and understand customers’ technical specifications for projects ranging from $10K to $100M in value
  • generate an effective and profitable engineering solution for the process
  • Engineer systems, selecting and sizing the equipment necessary to meet the customers’ needs while ensuring compliance with all governing code requirements

Key Qualifications:

  • Engineering degree with proven understanding and application of mechanical engineering, trade standards and code (NFPA, IBC, AWS, NEC, SMACNA, OSHA, ASME), as well as an understanding of process flow schematics and equipment sizing.
  • Minimum 5 years experience with industrial project engineering involving a broad range of disciplines such as thermodynamics, heat transfer, mass transfer, fluid flows, sheet metal, piping, structural, material handling and air flow.
  • Preferred experience in one or more of the following paint finishing system disciplines.
  • Pretreatment and Electrocoat systems.
  • Large production spray booth systems.
  • Large production Oven and Cooling systems.
  • Knowledge of equipment used in industrial manufacturing systems is essential (fans, pumps, burners, motors, heat exchangers, valves, dampers, filters, lighting, and controls) and the ability to perform the calculations needed to correctly size and specify the equipment is required.
  • Advanced familiarity with AutoCAD and Excel is required, and an understanding of MS project preferred.
  • Ability to clearly communicate with professionalism and respect both verbally and in writing.
  • Willingness to travel 20-25%, mostly domestic with occasional international travel.
